Workflow runs

Run a published workflow stage by stage: bind scenarios, read RIA's review of each stage, approve, advance, discuss and finish.

Where: Workflows→Start run

A run is one pass through a workflow: this week's plan, this month's sign-off. You work it stage by stage. On each stage RIA reviews the scenario you bound and lists what to check before you move on; gated stages wait for an approver.

Start a run

FromHow
WorkflowsStart run on a published workflow's row. On a draft it's disabled: "Publish the workflow first".
ScenariosThe Workflows for {model} card lists up to 5. Run with {scenario} starts a run with that scenario bound, drafts included. The scenario must be solved.
HomeResume cycle → on the Active cycle card reopens the run in progress.

The run opens at its first stage.

Read the run screen

The header shows ← {workflow}, "Run on {model} · started {date} by {person}" and the status: In progress or Completed.

PartShows
Stage ribbonOne chip per stage: its number, ✓ when done, ● for the current stage, its name, who it's assigned to (You or initials), and a padlock when it needs approval. Click a chip to look at that stage.
AssignmentsN assigned to you and N with teammates, with each stage and person. Hidden when no stage is assigned.
Scenario contextThe scenario this stage reads. See Bind scenarios to a stage.
Stage bodyThe gate (Approval required or Manual advance), Approved by {name} once signed off, Stage owner, and the stage's widgets.
Right panelRIA Review and Discussion.

Looking at an earlier stage shows "Viewing an earlier stage — switch to the current stage to interact."

If the run is slow to load you see This run is taking longer than usual; Try again or reopen it from Workflows. Couldn't load this run also offers Try again. A run whose workflow was deleted shows "This run's workflow definition is no longer available."

Bind scenarios to a stage

Scenario context belongs to the stage you're looking at, so each stage can read a different scenario.

  • Active: picks the scenario the stage's widgets read. Clear active scenario empties it. "Widgets that bind to scenario will refresh."
  • Compare: Add builds the set comparison widgets read. Pick top 3 by objective fills it.

Work a stage

ControlWhat it does
Stage ownerAssigns this stage, in this run, to a person on the workflow's roster. It doesn't give them a role. Highlighted when it's you.
WidgetsDrag and resize them; the layout is kept for this stage of this run. Decision and collaboration widgets work only on the current stage of an open run; see Widgets.
Open analysisCreates a workspace for this stage, with the run's scenarios, and opens it. Analyses on this stage (N) lists the ones already made.
Present this stage full screenGives the stage the right panel's space too. Esc or Exit full screen returns.
Collapse RIA review / Show RIA reviewFolds the right panel to a strip. eode remembers the choice.

Read RIA's review of a stage

RIA Review is the right panel's default tab. It reads the stage's bound scenario and its data and lists what to check before you advance. It doesn't solve anything or change your data. While it works it shows Comparing to Base…, Checking your inputs…, Ranking the levers…. If it fails, Couldn't load the review offers Try again.

The banner at the top gives the verdict:

VerdictMeans
N blockers to resolve before advancingSomething stops the plan, such as a scenario that can't be solved.
N things to check before advancingWorth a look, not blocking.
Clear to advanceNothing found.
No scenario bound to this stageBind one under Scenario context.
Review unavailableRIA couldn't put a review together for this scenario.

The banner names the scenario (· reference for Base), counts blockers, checks and insights, and has Re-check. A completed run adds Run completed · read-only.

Findings come in two groups:

GroupCards
Your dataA value that looks off; You changed {field} on {item} with the old and new value; You set {field}; What this scenario changed; a note from the last solve; or Inputs look consistent.
This scenarioThis scenario can't be solved as-is; This scenario hasn't been solved yet; Base solves to $N; Objective is $N — N% above/below Base; diagnosis insights; a lever with opportunity worth $N; or Solve looks healthy.

Each card shows where the finding came from (the solve, a rule, your edit, vs base, or RIA) and how sure it is: certain, likely or worth a look. Click a card for its actions: Open in Scenarios, See the analysis or See the constraint trace.

A scenario solved without detailed results gets a review based on its goal's value against Base only; the note at the bottom says so and suggests re-running it.

Approve and advance

ButtonWhat it does
Approve this stageSigns off a gated stage; Approved by {name} appears. Shows for the workflow's and the run's Approvers and for Org Admins.
Advance ›Moves to the next stage. Disabled on an earlier stage, on a finished run, and while a gated stage waits for approval ("Approval required before advancing").
Complete runOn the last stage, finishes the run. Its status becomes Completed.

If eode refuses to advance, it says "Couldn't advance this stage — you may not have permission to drive this run, or the current stage needs an approval first."

Approve this stage approves the stage you're looking at, even one the run hasn't reached yet.

Discuss a run

The Discussion tab collects the run's conversation:

  • Scenarios spawned: what-ifs the run's widgets created.
  • Approvals: each approved stage and by whom.
  • The comment thread: each comment's author, time and stage. Yours are tinted.

Type in Comment on "{stage}"… and click Send. If it doesn't post, your text stays: "Couldn't post that. Your message is still here — try again." A completed run takes no new comments.

Keep track of runs

There's no list of past runs. Runs in progress reach you on Home: the Active cycle card, Approval needed in the inbox (on runs you started or hold a run role on), and ACTIVE PROCESSES. To return to a finished run, keep its link.

Ask RIA about a run

On a run the console suggests What's left on this stage, Diagnose the at-risk scenario and Summarize for sign-off. In the library it suggests What's running now and What needs me. See RIA console.

Limits

  • A run that hasn't loaded after 15 seconds offers Try again.
  • A comment has 20 seconds to post.
  • RIA's review shows up to 5 change cards, 4 data notes, 3 insights and 3 levers.
