Find your way around

Use the left rail, the header's model switcher, breadcrumb and profile menu, and screen links to get anywhere in eode.

Where: Any screen

Every screen has the same frame: the header across the top, the left rail down the left side, and the RIA diamond floating in the lower-right corner. The rail takes you to a screen; the header tells you which model and screen you're on.

Move with the rail

The rail has two groups of screens, each under a thin line, and three items pinned to its foot. Hover over a line to see the group's name: Work for the first group, Model · and the open model's name (or This model) for the second.

Open a model screen with no model open

Overview, Scenarios and Workspaces work on one model. With no model open their icons are dimmed, and the tooltip reads, for example, Scenarios — open a model first. They still work:

  1. Click one. The model menu in the header opens, with a PICK A MODEL note: That view needs a model open. The rest of the page dims.
  2. Pick a model. You land on the screen you clicked, for that model.

Click the dimmed page to back out.

Pick one: you land on the screen you clicked. Not listed? Browse every model

Spot a model waiting for your review

While the open model's design still waits for your sign-off, Overview carries a dot. Its tooltip reads Overview — the Clearance Dossier is waiting for your review. Scenarios and Workspaces stay usable meanwhile; their tooltips end usable now; the structure is still pending review. See Review the design.

Collapse the rail

Click the chevron at the top of the rail (Collapse menu). The rail shrinks to icons; hover over one to see its name. Click the chevron again (Expand menu) to bring the labels back.

The rail stays the way you left it in this browser. Reset to defaults in Page settings doesn't change it.

Switch dark and light

Click Theme at the foot of the rail. The tooltip says which way it goes: Switch to light mode or Switch to dark mode. It's the same setting as Theme in Page settings.

Switch models

The ribbon next to the logo names the open model. (The logo itself isn't a button.) It reads Select model when none is open, and New model while you're building one. Click it to open the model menu:

  • New model… opens the New Model window.
  • One row per model: its name, and Baseline with the baseline figure, or - if it hasn't been solved. A check marks the open model. Hover over a long name to read all of it.
  • Browse all models opens the Model Library.

Picking a model opens its Overview. Esc or a click outside closes the menu.

The menu showsMeaning
"No models yet: author one first."You have no models. Use New model….
"Could not load your models."The list didn't load. Click Try again.

To jump to a model by typing its name instead, press Ctrl/⌘+K; see Command palette.

Know where you are

Next to the model ribbon, the breadcrumb names the screen you're on. That name is also the page's heading.

On Workspaces and Scenarios, a second crumb names the open workspace or scenario. Click the first crumb (All workspaces or All scenarios on hover) to go back to the list.

The screen names are: Home, Model Library, Datasets, Dataset, Overview, Scenarios, Change history, Scenario analysis, Reconciliation, Clearance Dossier, Workflows, Workflow editor, Workflow run, Workspaces, Review Queue, Beta feedback, Organization and Authoring.

Spot an engine problem

When the optimization engine stops answering, a pill reading engine · down with a red dot appears in the header. Hover over it for the reason. eode checks every 10 seconds, and the pill goes away by itself once the engine is back. A healthy engine shows nothing. See Troubleshooting.

Open your profile menu

Your chip sits at the right of the header: your initials, your name, and a line with your organization's name and your persona. On a narrow window only the initials show. Click it to open the menu:

In the menuWhat it does
Your name, email and standingOwner of your organization, Org Admin at …, or Member of …
OrganizationOpens the Organization screen. Your organization's name shows on the right.
Help & supportOpens Help & support. Shows 2 new (for example) when support has replied.
Beta surveyOpens the beta survey.
Sign outSigns you out; see Sign in and first run.

You belong to one organization, so the menu has no organization switcher. eode has no notification center either. New things show up in three places:

  • A dot on your chip, and N new beside Help & support: a reply from support.
  • A dot on the RIA diamond: something new from RIA.
  • Home's INBOX — NEEDS YOU: approvals and requests waiting on you.

Open RIA

The diamond in the lower-right corner (Open RIA chat) opens the RIA console over the page. Drag it anywhere. See RIA console.

Every screen has its own address. Bookmark it or share it; it opens the same screen, after sign-in if needed.

  • An address eode doesn't know opens Home.
  • A screen that isn't available to you opens Home, and Back doesn't bounce you to it again.
  • A model screen without a model in the address (/scenarios, for example) shows Choose a model to continue: "This view works on a specific model. Open one from the Model Library, or use the Model menu in the top bar to switch." Browse models opens the Model Library.

A workspace in fullscreen hides the header, the rail and the RIA diamond; see Workspaces.

Limits

  • The rail is 168 pixels wide, or 56 collapsed.
  • On a window 640 pixels wide or less, the RIA console opens full-screen.
  • The model menu's list scrolls once it's taller than 288 pixels; Browse all models and the command palette reach every model.
  • The engine check runs every 10 seconds.
