Conversations

Keep a named conversation with RIA per model, find an old one by title, start a new one, or rename it.

Where: RIA diamond→conversation menu (under the header)

Every conversation with RIA has a title and belongs to a model, or to General when no model is open. The button under the console's header shows the open conversation; click it to switch, search, start a new one, or rename.

Switch conversations

Click the conversation button (it shows the open conversation's title, or New conversation). The Conversations menu lists your conversations for this scope. Each row shows the title (or Untitled conversation) and when it was last used: just now, <n>m ago, <n>h ago, <n>d ago. The open one is highlighted. The list is ordered by last use, newest first.

Click a row to open it. The console puts you back where that conversation was: its screen (Scenarios, Overview or the workspace), its scenario, its workspace and any pinned backlog item. A Resumed <title> line marks where you picked up.

  • ↑ and ↓ move between rows; Esc closes the menu.
  • While RIA is answering, other rows are greyed out (Opens when RIA finishes answering).
  • An empty scope reads No conversations yet. If the list can't load, Couldn't load the conversations. comes with Retry.

Know which conversations you'll see

With a model open, the menu reads Showing conversations for <model> and lists your conversations about that model. With no model open it reads NO MODEL SELECTED and lists your General conversations. You only ever see your own.

The console follows the model:

  • Open a model and the console switches to that model's most recent conversation, or a new one if you haven't talked about it yet.
  • Go to a screen with no model and it switches to a General conversation.
  • It stays put when the conversation is already about that model, or when your own message took you there (a build started from General, or RIA taking you to a screen).
  • It never switches in the middle of an answer. It waits.

New Model always starts a fresh General conversation.

Search conversations

Type in Search conversations at the top of the menu. The list filters by title as you type, ignoring case. Nothing matching shows No conversation title contains “<text>”.

Start a new conversation

  1. Click New conversation in the menu.
  2. Keep the suggested name (<model> <n>, or Conversation <n> with no model open) or type your own.
  3. Click Start. Cancel creates nothing.

The new conversation belongs to the current model, or to General. While RIA is answering, New conversation waits (Starts when RIA finishes answering).

Rename a conversation

Click ✎ on a row (Rename), change the name in Rename conversation, and click Rename. If the name is refused, the dialog reopens with the reason above it. You can rename only your own conversations, and a name can't be empty.

A conversation you haven't named takes its title from your first message. A name you gave it is never replaced.

Limits

  • Titles are one line, up to 60 characters. Longer names, and automatic titles, are cut at 60.
  • The menu lists only your own conversations, for the current model or General.
  • There's no way to delete a conversation.
  • The list is at most 60% of the window tall, then scrolls.
