Topology
See what a model is made of as a diagram, inspect any part, trace what feeds a KPI, and switch lenses to see where a solved plan is tight.
Where: Overview→Topology
Topology draws the model as a flow: suppliers, stock, processes, markets and the links between them, laid out for you. Click any part to see what eode knows about it. On the Scenarios screen the same diagram adds lenses that show a solved plan.
Move around the diagram
Each box shows its class (Supplier, Stock, Process, Market, Financial or Object) above its name. Hover a cut-off name to read it in full.
- Drag the background to pan. Scroll to zoom.
- The controls at the bottom left are Zoom In, Zoom Out, Fit View and Fullscreen.
- The mini map at the bottom right shows the whole diagram; drag in it to move.
- Boxes stay where eode put them. You can't drag or connect them here; to change the model, see Change a model.
While the diagram loads, the section reads Loading the model's topology…. If it hasn't arrived after 15 seconds, it reads The topology didn't load; reload the page. A model with nothing to draw reads No diagram data available.
Inspect a part
- Click a box. The Selection inspector opens beside the diagram.
- Read what eode knows about it. The sections that apply show:
- Class, with the part's role.
- Product topology: Price per unit, Max units / period.
- Resource topology: the most standard hours it has per period.
- Purchase topology: Cost per unit, Max units / period.
- Contributes to: the KPIs this part feeds.
- Click the target icon (Center on this) to zoom in on it, or ✕ (Close). Clicking empty canvas also closes it.
Click a link instead to see its Endpoints, From and To. On the Scenarios screen, the inspector also shows how busy the part was in the solved plan, how much flowed through it, and what one more unit of it is worth.
Trace what feeds a KPI
The KPIs strip above the diagram has one chip per KPI. Click one and every part that doesn't feed it fades. Click it again, or Clear focus, to bring them back. Hover a chip for why the KPI matters.
From the inspector, clicking a chip under Contributes to closes the inspector and focuses that KPI.
See outside factors on the diagram
When RIA is watching market news for the model, an External factors · n row of chips appears. Each shows ↑ (positive), ↓ (negative) or ↗ (uncertain), its title and what it affects. Click one to fade the diagram to the parts it touches and read its summary, what it Affects, and Source ↗. A KPI focus and a factor focus can't be on at once. Turning a factor into a what-if is on Run a what-if.
Expand a cluster
In a model with more than 40 parts, each class with several members folds into one box showing the class and a count. Hover it for the first six names.
- Click the box to expand that class in place. An Expanded row appears above the diagram with a chip per open class; click a chip's × to fold it again, or Collapse all.
- A folded class's inspector reads Class cluster, with the member count and the Members list.
Which classes you opened is remembered for each model in this browser.
Go fullscreen
Click Fullscreen in the controls. The diagram fills the window and the inspector becomes a side panel. Esc closes the inspector first, then leaves fullscreen.
The strip above the diagram grows too. Inline, it shows the model's name, its revision (rev n), its state, how many parts, links, KPIs and scenarios it has, and how many clusters there are to expand. In fullscreen it adds the library (Org or Personal), the model's domain and up to four tags, its description, and cards for Source (where the model came from, such as Authored from prompt), Solve (your goal's value and how long the solve took, or Not solved), Identity (when it was last updated) and Counters.
Switch lenses on Scenarios
Where: Scenarios→Model topology
On the Scenarios screen, Model topology draws the selected scenario's solved plan. Tabs above it switch what the diagram shows. It opens on Flows.
| Lens | Shows |
|---|---|
| Topology | Class colors only, like the model home. |
| Flows | Each box fills by how much passes through it; each link's width follows the flow. A bar shows how busy each part is. |
| Constraints | What's holding the plan back stays bright: a part that's at least 70% busy, or where one more unit is worth something. Everything else fades, and links that don't touch them drop to 15%. |
| Money | Each box fills by how much it adds to your goal. Hover its chip for its revenue, cost or margin. |
The model home's diagram has no lenses: it shows the model's structure, not a solve.
Limits
- Zoom runs from 0.1× to 2.5×. Center on this zooms to 1.5×.
- Past 80 parts, only the parts in view are drawn.
- Clusters form in models with more than 40 parts.
- The fullscreen strip shows up to 4 tags.
- Esc closes the inspector only in fullscreen.
